Also known as the Yellow Husk Tomato. Ground cherries bear ½-¾” fruit enclosed within a lantern shaped, paper-like husk. When ripe, fruit is yellow and husks turn light brown. Ground cherries have a sweet tart flavor and can be eaten fresh or cooked into desserts, pies, preserves or sauces.
