Also known as Mordipeffer and Mordis Geelriewe Peffer. This pepper is thought to be the product of Mennonite horticulturist Jacob B. Garber (1800–1886) of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. A hotter relative of the jalapeño, this variety is named for its distinctive shape and color. Pods ripen from green to yellow to brilliant orange, then to a deep orange-red. They reach 1-3” in length and have a smokey hot flavor. Plants are compact and perfect for containers. Non-Isolated.
