A low acid tomato that is a dependable producer.
Ace 55 was developed at the University of California and was first offered for sale in 1950. This tomato is a dependable producer of 7 oz. red globes with a good flavor. It is lower in acid than most other tomatoes and is often recommended to people who are on a low-acid diet. It was bred for the market, so it resists cracking, bruising and bursting. It is also valued for being among the first open-pollinated, multiple disease resistant tomatoes.
