Rebel Starfighter Kayleigh Anne is a newer from Russ Crowe’s Vermont Rebel Starfighter line, a cross of Snow White Cherry and Rebel Starfighter Prime, named for his daughter. Vigorous, indeterminate, regular-leaf vines set heavy yields of ivory-white to pale yellow fruit splashed with lavender-blue to purple anthocyanin streaks, and shapes can range from round and slightly oblate to heart or plum forms, with most fruits weighing about 2 to 6 ounces (60 to 180 g). Expect a sweet, smooth, low-acid bite with fruity notes and a bright citrus, sometimes caramel finish, plus none of the bitterness some dark-shouldered tomatoes can carry. Ripening is early to midseason at roughly 75 to 80 days from transplant, and the crack-resistant fruit holds well on the vine, making this variety a dazzling slicer and salad star.
