Harvest green for crisp pickling, poppers, and fresh salsas, or let fruits fully redden for the richest flavor, then roast, dry, or smoke into your own deeply aromatic chipotle.
5,000-8,000 SHU. Jalapeño Zapotec is a gourmet heirloom jalapeño from Oaxaca, Mexico, with a smoky-sweet flavor and a satisfying, medium heat. Stocky 2 to 3-foot plants are heavy bearers, producing thick-walled pods that start deep green, then ripen to carnival red with tan crackling lines and classic corking. Expect maturity in roughly 75 to 85 days from transplant, with excellent yields when grown in full sun and warm soil. Harvest green for crisp pickling, poppers, and fresh salsas, or let fruits fully redden for the richest flavor, then roast, dry, or smoke into your own deeply aromatic chipotle.
