Grande Rio Verde is a heavy producer of large, 3 oz. apple-green fruit, making it the largest tomatillo variety available. The medium-sized plants are determinate and don’t require staking. Excellent flavor. Tomatillos have a firmer texture than tomatoes and are more cold hardy. They are a staple in Salsa Verde and Mexican dishes. Tomatillos are an excellent source of iron, magnesium, potassium, Vitamin C and K, fiber, niacin, and manganese. Harvest tomatillos when the husks turn brown and split, or when the fruit falls from the plant. Suitable for home garden and market growers.
