Grosse Lisse is a very old heirloom tomato variety from the USA in the 1860s. Grosse Lisse translates to “Big Smooth” and was introduced in England by the name of “Trophy.” It was developed by Dr. T. J. Hand by crossing a cherry tomato with a large lumpy one, creating one of the first smooth, round red varieties. Grosse Lisse tomatoes are 4-12 oz., juicy, and have a very good tomato flavor. Excellent for canning and slicing.
